Size: 13” x 19” Print, Black screen-print on white poster board of Frederick Douglass.

Original artwork by Alexandros Hatzigiannidis, and screen printed in the Gods N Gladiators Art Studio in Rochester, NY.

Born enslaved, he understood from a young age that gaining knowledge was the road to freedom, so he taught himself how to read. Anna Murray Douglass, helped Frederick plan his escape and financed it. Anna and Frederick married in 1838 and settled in Rochester, NY in 1847 and lived in Rochester until 1872, the longest place he ever lived. Frederick is famous for being the national leader of the abolitionist movement, and he is still regarded as one of the world's most brilliant orators. This graphic was created to celebrate one of our nation’s great leaders and the place where he called home.
